The Venice Overnight Permit Districts will go before the

California Coastal Commission at their June 11 meeting!

WHEN:  

Coastal Commission meeting is scheduled for June 11th,Thursday. Meeting starts at 8AM and the OPDs are agenda item 9.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP OPPOSE OPDs IN VENICE AT THE JUNE 11th COASTAL COMMISSION MEETING:

1) Write to the Coastal Commission via email! Coastal Commission Staff, Charles Posner, will be posting an addendum to the agenda and you can submit letters and comments via email to Charles Posner, California Coastal Commission at cposner@coastal.ca.gov; or fax to Charles Posner, California Coastal Commission, at 562-590-5084. All individual letters and comments should be submitted by the 5th of June to be included and should be addressed to "California Coastal Commissioners and Staff."

2) Mail a letter to each Coastal Commissioner stating that you oppose overnight permit parking in Venice. The list of Commissioners can be found at: http://www.coastal.ca.gov/roster.html (see sample letters here: sample letter 1 - sample letter 2 - sample letter 3 ). Remember to sign, print your name and address on letters. Letters must be recieved at least 3 days prior to June10.

4)  Join the campaign here to sign up! And sign the on-line petition here to oppose OPDs in Venice.(the on-line petition is a new feature. we have over 1000 signatures on paper.)

5)  Call Councilperson Bill Rosendahl (213)-473-7011 or email him at councilman.rosendahl@lacity.org to let him know you do not want OPDs in Venice!

6)  Attend the June 11th Coastal Commission meeting! The meeting starts at 8AM and the Venice OPDs are agenda item 9!

*Appeals were filed against the City of Los Angeles decision to implement OPDs in Venice.  The Coastal Commission found that there was a substantial issue and placed the Venice OPDs on the June 2009 California Coastal Commission agenda.
